Siemens software for a broad range of industries
Software is an essential driver for the digitalization of societies and industries. It brings the physical and virtual worlds together. Building technology, energy infrastructures or products are planned, developed and thoroughly tested in the virtual sphere before a single screw is turned in the real world. That is possible thanks to simulation with a digital twin, a virtual image of the real installation or product. With such methods e.g. products can reach the market up to 50 percent sooner – a major competitive advantage for companies. ? Siemens has recognized this trend at a very early stage: The success story began with the acquisition of UGS in 2007, a company specializing in product lifecycle management (PLM) software. LMS, with software for mechanical simulations, was added to the portfolio in 2012. And CD-adapco, which specializes in software for computational fluid dynamics, was acquired in 2016 beneath Mentor Graphics.
